The UK is not the most liberal country in Europe and homophobia is high. Legally Gay marriages can take place in any place that a heterosexual marriage can take place including a church as possible locations. This as caused great concern, especially amongst highly religious groups which interprets homosexuality as a sin. The Catholic pope has stated that nevertheless Gay always be frowned on by the church, we must respect the individuals decision and pray they see the errors in their ways. Many bishops in the UK are totally against homosexuality and some bishops are actually homosexual so you can see more than likely there has been and will be great debate regarding this controversial issue.
People who are against the homosexual partnership legislation argue that it is against morals, marriage is traditionally between a man and a woman. Homosexuals and people who are for homosexual partnership argue that preventing same sex marriages is discrimination, preventing same sex marriages because of religious beliefs is old school get with the modern and many more arguments for. Ultimately in the UK despite the fierce debate, homosexuals will be able to get married on the 21 December 2005.
